The Vistas Near Selah, Washington

Our friend Bob and Steve took a tramp on the mountains near the town of Selah on the eastern side of the Cascade Mountains, part of "The Rockies" last Saturday. Unfortunately, I do not remember the river this dam is controlling but the view down to it looking over this very steep grade is exciting.
Enlarge the pictures if you like.

One can see the town of Selah off in the distance. These boys walked the trails until they reached the summit of one of the mountains in the area. Evidently, one can pull off the road and start walking without fear of having one's car ticketed for being on the side of the road. There is very little traffic to none on this road.

This is Bob, our friend and the reason for this picture is to show how hard the wind was blowing on the ridge. He has his back to the force of it and it made his shorts look "form-fitting." We're all too old to be wearing that type of clothing. ;-)

Here is another picture of the dam at a lower altitude. West of these mountains is an environment lush with green and temperate temperatures with rainy winters but east of these mountains is arid land that is desert with more seasonal changes in the temperature. The Olympic and Cascade Mountain ranges wring out the clouds of their moisture coming in from the Pacific Ocean and by the time the Cascade's has had its way with them there if very little to no precipitation left, hence, the desert-like environment.

Nano-second Images

A friend sent these wonderful pictures along to me recently from Widelec.org and I found them amazing how the action is completely stopped without the photographs becoming blurred. The top picture reminds me of my own bank account. ;-)
Embiggen them and enjoy!

Now you know this one's going to hurt.

Notice both the hombre and el toro, have their tongues out in anticipation of their prize.

This type of landing can result in the severing of the spinal cord resulting in paralysis from the neck and shoulders down.

One can still see the pilot in this crash. ( Where's Gawpo when you need his commentary?!) ;-)

I wonder how much damage was done to the camera, not to mention the person in the line of fire.

A water hat.

Tire marks on the face are the least of his worries.

A big cat disagreement.

A little cat disagreement.

Let's see, now how was I supposed to land?

Perfect catch.

A Little Humour for the Mid-Week

These are some of my favorite jokes from Whyatt.

Odds & Ends

Definitely, takes your breath away walking into this bathroom with the painted floor.

Boy shakes the hand of a street performer.
Acrobatic bull jumping.

This person won the Guinness World Record for the most body piercings.

For those patrons who would like to bring part of the orchestra home with them. This baritone horn was converted into an urinal. ( I wonder if it produces a rich horn sound when flushed?! ) ;-)

My favorite toilet of them all. This toilet would make everyone a "stander" rather than a "sitter."

And finally, another Chinese toy recall.
