The Wedding Tree - March 2010

This is the "Wedding Tree" that we planted in 2004. It has been blooming for three days so, I waited until more of the blooms had opened before taking the picture. It is called a "Weeping Cherry" tree. I think we are a few weeks early for the flowers and some of the plants to be bloomng this soon. We've had some warm weather, which hastened along the growing cycle.

Wonderful! Here in MI we are just getting buds and daffodils pokeing their noses through the ground.

Pam: The previous entry I made shows the Daffodils that are in bloom in a flower pot on our patio at the end of February. We are so used to seeing our present weather, that when I look at pictures from the Midwest or back East, and still see tons of snow on the ground it reminds me that we still are in the winter months.

Hey, lovely bloom there, loved it!

Thanks 2 the irregular "shift in ocean surface tempters" called El NiƱo...quite warm and wet just about every where, but, I'll take it as this year’s winter ended a bit early! Maybe it's time to plan for the Spring/Summer road-trip...

Johnny: Thanks. It seems strange having our yard start blooming two weeks before it usually does, but, like you, I will take it as a sign that the winter monthers are just about over.

Today presently, it is 43 degrees, windy and rainy for the rest of the day. Nice to stay in doors and read a book by the fire.
Take care.

I saw crocuses blooming (the earliest ones) on the way to work yesterday morning, so Spring's on the move near the shoreline, at least.

Your cherry tree is lovelier each year. (What fun that this is the third year I've had the privilege of seeing it bloom, in photos, at least!)

Greg: Thanks for the comment. I've been holding myself back from wanting to trim it each year where the branches do not touch the ground. This year, I left them alone. As you can also, see, The moss is doing quite well this year! ;-) We've decided that every year we try and kill off the moss. In addition, we plant grass seed only to see it return to the original moss. Over the winter when the grass lies dormant, the moss kicks in and wins the contest for space. So, we are just going to let it have its way and I'll mow what ever remaining grass their is.

Today, it's back to mid-forties and rain, typical Washington State weather for this time of year.
Take care.

I love the weeping cherry! It's one of my favorite trees. This one is beautiful.

Java: Thanks. Every year this tree seems to become more beautiful and is filling out nicely.

This week has been very strange, weather wise. It has hailed every day this week and sometimes, two and three time in the day. Of course, it is preceeded with torrential rains so the daffodils have been beaten down a bit and the Weeping Cherry started dropping its pedals as well. The Magnolia tree is not in bloom and I will be getting those pictures up fairly soon. Thanks for dropping by.
