Good food, check. Good friends, check. Bonfire, sigh . . . Unfortunately, 'tis the season of the rains and windy weather which eliminates the fire, so perhaps, we'll start a fire in the fireplace or more than likely, the wood stove.
Our neighbor whose, wife died this past year has remarried, sold the house, and they are leaving very soon to live in Upper Michigan where her family is. It seems like it happened so fast but that's the way life is. Those two our guests this evening for a "last supper" of sorts with them before they go. Should be nice.
Hope you have some celebrations planned today. I'll lift a cup to ya and wish the best for you!
Due to the time difference, I am fortunately not too late: Happy St. Patrick's Day.
I have just read my beloved Marcus Aurelius: “Look within. Within is the fountain of good, and it will ever bubble up, if thou wilt ever dig.” Maybe this sounds helpful.
Greg: And you, as well. I love that quote Martin sent along as well. I think that looking within, is what makes the creativity work in all of us and I especially think of my music composition whilst reading that. (Danke, Martin.)
I am from Northern Ireland but I have lived in England this past few years. I love Celtic crosses and it was nice stumbling across this photo! Its huge! A belated Happy St. Patricks day to you Butch! :-)
Mark: Welcome, and an Happy belated St. Paddy's Day to you as well.
I was last in Ireland in 2000. Of course, in three weeks, I tried to visit every antiquity site I could find. I loved the crosses as well and the visit to New Grange was an high point. Standing in that chamber and imagining the Winter Solstice light coming down the enterance to the chamber would be a treat to actually see in reality. They used lighting techniques to demonstrate how it worked. I was also up in Northern Ireland as well visiting the Giant's Steps, and spending a significant amount of money at the Beleek factory and on and on.
I'm a married gentleman of thirty-eight years in the Pacific North West state of Washington. My professions have been in medicine as a Naprapathic physician, music performance as a principal operatic tenor and teaching applied music voice at the university level and privately along with private instrumental instruction. Since retirement from medicine, I began composing and arranging music in the Celtic-American Folk genre and did performance in Irish Celtic Music and American Folk music of which I have recently retired due to my health. My interests are eclectic and I enjoy meeting people and making friends.
The musical group I was in when we were performing was Mooney Woods and Nogle and we made two CDs. The most recent released was in December of 2010.

Gillian: That picture was from my visit to Ireland back in 2000. They truly are magnificent dating back between the 6th and 9th centuries, I think.
MartininBroda: Thank you for the best wishes, as it is never too late at my blog. ;-)
Thanks again, for the inspiring words of Marcus Aurelius. Those words are perfect for my thoughts today.
Martin, what a great quote for the day! That Marcus Aurelius was lightyears ahead of his time. We dig, Marcus baby, we dig.
(finger-snapping...)
Hope your 17th of March was delightful indeed, Butch, my friend!
Happy Spring, now, too!
