I found this photo op interesting.
The president of France must be very short. His heels must be at least an inch and an half and he still feels the need to stand on his "tippy-toes." ;-)

Seriously, I don’t want to comment this, but it’s indeed a little ridiculous and funny, I don’t know Germans is allowed this to say about our French friends? But it’s more generally a problem if people don’t like what they are.
Oh and I’ve read 28 years, that sounds good, so good luck and wishes for the future.
Martin: Yes, I usually don't like to make fun but, this caught my eye and I found it interesting that it was so important to him to need to stand on his toes for the picture.
I wouldn't worry about whether Germans are allowed to speak in jest about their French friends. If we all weren't friendly, there would be nothing but "stum."
Thanks for the best wishes. I do not know where the 28 years have gone but, I have certainly enjoyed them. When we reach 30 yrs., we plan to visit Hawaii. It will be a first for him and a few times for me though they were long ago.

Perhaps he has a Napolean complex? And the Obamas are very tall.
Java: Both hands were in plain sight. The classic Napolean pose was one hand in his jacket.
It's possible that from wearing high-heeled shoes his Achilles-Tendon has shortened. ;-)
He must not realize (tho surely his wife does) that vertically challeneged guys are pretty sexy.
He must get leg cramps from a day of that sort of posing. Next time, they should pose on some stairs

Did you see the photo of Queen Elizabeth beside the Obamas? She looked like a little bonsai Barbra Cartland in between them :-)
Mark: I didn't realize she was so tiny. My mother used to look like her (sans the crown, of course);-) and at one time, could have been a double for her.
My mom's lineage had English in it but she seem to have more Irish, and some Welsh as well.
Dad's line was Irish with a little Scots.
I enjoyed the picture of Michelle Obama with her. Michelle is about 6 feet tall.
