Lilacs are blooming and the smell is wonderful!

The Lilacs are blooming and the smell is wonderful! I've noticed my neighbors who like to take a tramp through the winding streets linger as they walk by our home and they take in the Lilac flowers in bloom. Steve brought in two of the Lilac clusters and I put them in a wee cup on the kitchen table. Now that room is starting to hold the fragrance of the flowers.

Absolutely beautiful Butch! As you know these are all over our village too. They seem to be very popular but then again the smell is lovely too. I have to admit one of my fav seasons is Autumn, but there seems to be so much blooming going on at the moment and I am loving it all. Hope you have a good day buddy :-)

Thanks, Mark. Actually, I agree with you that Autumn is also my favorite season. I love the feeling of Autumn, the colours, of course, but also the wind picking up the leaves and throwing them about in every direction. The sunny days and the cold nights. The gathering of what's left in the vegetable gardens and fields. There is always the harvest associated with it and the feeling one gets just before a storm. Spring has its moments as well, but it is a gradual blooming and change into the summer months.

In the Northwest, our winters are mostly rainy slowly changing with the elevation of the sun on the horizon. The summer months are mostly dry without the rain fall.

Autumn is definitely my favorite though, I will not wish its return so soon until we've had some dry season for comparison. ;-)

I love Autumn for all those reasons too buddy. We live not far from the forest here and I just love when it starts getting dark early and we take the dog out for a walk on a windy night with all the leaves falling. We also have a few chestnut trees here in the village and our little dog has a habit of collecting them for us. We bring them home and put them in baskets etc for no other reason than just to show them off lol I truly love Autumn and Spring. Both my fav times of the year.

Mark: Steve loves to take Sean to a forest preserve near us as well. I'm not able to walk very far due to an old injury and multiple surgeries to correct it. ( it didn't ) That and being able to go outside without his leash to the mailbox, are his to favorite things in his life! Sean understands many words and even when we spell, "mailman" he knows it. I now substitute "letter-carrier" for "mailman". It's only time that he will catch on to that as well. ;-)

Travelingman: We've been cutting some of them and bringing them into the house. It's always a pleasant supprise to walk into the rooms where the vases of flowers are.

Greg: Lilacs are Steve's favorite and we've been taking some cuttings into the house so we can continue to smell them whilst we have them.

There are some of our neighbor's Rhodies in bloom already, but the most of ours our on the northern side of the house and bloom a wee bit later than the ones that get more sun. The one in our backyard hasn't bloomed yet as well, but with good weather, we should be seeing them make their annual entrance.
