I'm updating some of the pictures I took recently around the house. The weeping cherry tree has just started to drop some petals, ( most likely the recent rain started yesterday.) Enjoy!
A closer view of the blossoms.
Oma's Daffodil
This flower bloomed the day of her funeral so I named it in her memory. Cooper wrote a beautiful entry about this lovely lady out of his past.
This is a decorative Plum in full bloom. The Magnolia tree is almost ready to bloom. On the road entering where we live, there are a few Magnolias that are in full bloom. They have more sun light exposure than we, I imagine. Ours should be making its grand opening, soon.

Oma's daffodil is quiet and wonderful in its simplicity. A fitting tribute for a lovely woman, I'm sure.
That cherry tree is pretty. It's always a little sad when the blooming draws to a close, but I also think it's pretty cool the way the petals gather on the ground below.
"It's not the wind that's bringing 'em down. It's just their time, I reckon..." (paraphrased from "Carousel")
The plum tree's sure delightful!
Greg: Thanks. I'll take some pictures of the magnolia tree when it is ready. That one unfortunately, lasts for only a short while.
How was your family visit? Was Owen the gentleman on the far right in the group picture? Just a guess...
What a lovely tribute to Oma, Butch! Thank you. She loved flowers and had a beautiful garden. She would have appreciated your bloom very much.
You are far ahead of us, still ... not a speck of snow in sight! That decorative plum is gorgeous!
I continue to love and worship the colour of your house.
Cooper: Many thanks for your beautiful comments.
It was prophetic that the flower decided to bloom on that day, it didn't look like it would open for a few more days. It was destined to be hers and hers, only.(you're welcome)
I think we may be finished with the snowfall for this year.
( fingers & toes crossed )
I look forward for that plum tree and its blooming every year.
My house is blushing over your recent comment. ( can you see it in the pictures? ) ;-)
Thank you for the tree updates! I love to watch the progression of spring and fall in the trees. I think the weeping cherry is my favorite so far.
Java: Thank you. It is a beautiful tree and it seems to love that very spot. I'll post more as they come into bloom including the Rhodies.
Your plum is a plum! What a gorgeous cloud of pink. Does it look at a window?
Joe: Unfortunately, both ends of the house do not have windows, most likey a privacy design considering the homes are close enough to sit with a coffee and watch your neighbors. There is plenty of distance in the front and the back for all of the windows and doors.
The only way we get to enjoy this tree is to be outside in the yard. Our neighbors can see it through their windows and have told us how beautiful it is for them.
I also, misspoke about saying that the weeping cherry tree was starting to drop its pedals. As it turns out, it is the Plum tree that is dropping them.
Beautiful, lush greens and pinks! I am so ready for spring here in Chicago, but it is so slow in coming this year! Everything is budding and popping from the ground, but the flowers are still a week away.
You asked about my nickname? My name is Tate, and when I was young, my southern Grandma used to call me taterbug. This got shortened over the years to tater. Now you know!
Tater: Thanks for explaining it. My nickname came from one of my southern "mammaws."
My other half and I lived in Chicago for 10 years before we moved to the PNW 17 years ago. We lived in the Logan Square area.
Hope your flowers start appearing soon. I realize that you've had your share of snow this year.
Butch, if the neighbor's have a good view of the tree, then it's probably wise not to have a window of your own looking onto it.
The family visit's been great...and yes, you are quite observant--that's my man!
Greg: Yes, I like it a bit more private. That end of the house has a master bedroom and a music room. On the other end of the house is the garage. The less windows, the less chance a prowler would be able to survey the contents of the garage or make it easier to break in. We generally, do not have to worry about those types of problems and our neighbors look out for one another when an unfamiliar car drives by slowly looking at the homes. Since we live in a cul-de-sac, it bring us all together watching who it might be. Not to be paranoid, it is easy to get lost in this sub-division, which is not unlike a maze at times if you are trying to find your way out. It's our neighbors across the stree and behind us who get to enjoy the tree from inside their own homes.
Glad you had a great time with your folks and I sensed by looking at the picture that it was your other half. ( we can spot things like that, eh? must be that gay gene, thing or something.);)
