The "Rights" ( Rites ) of Spring

These are the "right" things about Spring that I like. The flowers are starting to bloom here and there around our home. These first two pictures were taken later in the day after they started to open.

The Magnolia tree started blooming yesterday afternoon after waiting for the temperature to rise.

I was playing around with the colours, brightness, contrast, etc. This picture has this "electric" quality I thought was interesting.

This is a strange tulip that is unlike all the others that bloom in the Spring. I do not know the name for it but, find it interesting. It opened a bit more later in the day.

Our Dandelions are doing remarkably well this year, don't you agree? ;-)

Yay, tulips!! Always so lovely...that one is a little odd, perhaps its a peony-flowering variety, although it looks a little crazy.

I just love your pink house, and that fabulous background you created in that image...such wonderful textures from the sun-dappling.

I hope it stays comfortably warm for your magnolia. 44 degrees here today, with rain on the way the next two days--we need it (and it might be good to tend to some housekeeping while it does...)!

Greg: They are such a beautiful flower. Maybe, that one is deformed. ( I do remember it coming up just like that last year, so, maybe not. )

Thanks ( regarding house colour ) To me, it looks like a cross between a pink rose and salmon in colour. Yes, I wish it would stay warmer as well but being the PNW, anything goes here. It started raining today and Steve said that it will be doing that for the rest of the week. ( as long as it isn't snow ) ;-)

Your tulips are beautiful! Our magnolia trees are blooming, too.

Last week, I took a different exit out of U-Hall, a building where I have class, and ended up in a courtyard full of blooming magnolia trees, budding bushes and a lonesome pine. I should take different exit doors more often.

Ugh dandelions. Such magical beings, but too darned efficient with the reproductive parts.

That tulip belongs in Joe's diversity picture show. I love it ... flaunting, dancing it's little red self.

Ha ha! The only flower that even I can grow: the Dandelion. Pretty pictures, Butch!

It-bre: Sometimes, a change in one's path produces the most surprises. It always makes me wonder if there are more forces in play directing me through life so I will find these "out of the way" places to enjoy. It looks like your different route produced some beautiful results.

Thanks for the comments.

Torn: Perhaps, we should start calling them a flower instead of a weed, I think they're here to stay.

When I was a lad I had to dig them out of the yard with a knife and I remember closing my eyes and still seeing them. They are edible so..."lemons into lemonade" could work. Of course, the problem with that is we have a dog and he roams the back yard. I may have just lost any appetite I may have had for making a dandelion salad. ;-)

Cooper: They are such a beautiful flower and fooling around with the hues, brightness etc., makes them even more interesting.

The maple trees are now getting into the act dropping all the little parts they have to offer. This will continue throughout the year ending with the whirling seed pods. ( I wish these were the type to produce that wonderfully, thick liquid that we pour on pancakes. ) ;-)

Oscar: Welcome! Yes, we have no problems growing the dandelions. Everything else can be tempermental in their own ways. We lost our Hollyhocks this year after enjoying them for the past few years.

My Steve, just did his "death-walk" yesterday spraying "Weed be Gone" ( sounds more like a wizard's incantation ) to kill off the wee dandelion plants and they are looking a little worse for that.

Thanks for you comments and stopping by.

My word verification is joypi. It sounds like something a person with prostatic problems would enjoy. ;-)

Dandelions are the smart ones. The whole idea of marketing themselves as something to wish upon is the secret of their success.

Who doesn't love the way those seeds dance on the breeze?

All you need is a dandelion and a dream!

Butch said...

Greg: I remember that! The strange thing about the dandelion is that you can pull them when the flowers are yellow and watch them eventually turn white allowing the seeds to still be blown away. Sneaky plants, they are. They're looking very sickly today after the "death walk" two days ago. This will not stop them; nothing stops them, but we go through the motions. ;-)

( I'm still thinking about your Bleeding Hearts and how beautiful they are. ) Thanks for those pictures of it. After I clicked on the picture, they blew up to an humongous size. Enjoyable!!

Maybe if you started calling the dandelions "flowers", they'd get indignant and leave. Doubt it, though.

The tulip may be a "parrot" if it has a serated edge and broken color. It's actually the result of a virus, but cultivated for those qualities.

Joe: Thanks for the information about that "lone" tulip I have. The bit about a virus causing it sounds right to me. That is the only one I have like it.

Dandelions: I've been known to call them many more things besides flowers from one of the languages I speak... Sailor. ;-)

beautiful pics Butch! I have been too lazy to take my camera to the garden, so this is a nice substitute!

Tater: Many thanks. Where I live, this will go on into next month with the Rhodies coming into bloom and my Hawthorne tress as well. I'll post them as they make their appearance.
